As my online learning career got started at Quinnipiac University, I’m always interested in what QU is doing. When my friend and close colleague Adam Nemeroff moved from Dartmouth to Quinnipiac in 2024 to become the school’s inaugural assistant provost for innovations in learning, teaching and technology, my interest in keeping up with QU only increased.

Adam recently posted on LinkedIn that QU is looking for a strategic enrollment and financial analyst, and I thought this would be another opportunity to learning more about where Quinnipiac is going. Adam connected me with the hiring manager, Olga Levine, and Olga graciously agreed to answer my four standard Featured Gig questions.

Q: What is the university’s mandate behind this role? How does it help align with and advance the university’s strategic priorities?

A: The strategic enrollment and financial analyst role is designed to strengthen Quinnipiac University’s capacity for data‑driven long‑term planning and budgeting, with a primary focus on forecasting tuition revenue. This unique position integrates enrollment and student retention analysis with financial planning to support informed institutional decision‑making.

The analyst will identify enrollment and retention patterns across academic programs and incorporate these insights into detailed financial models to more accurately project tuition revenue. By developing dashboards and standardized reports, the analyst will transform raw data into actionable information that enables university leadership to proactively respond to trends affecting revenue.

While the role is highly analytical, it also requires creativity—particularly in improving processes, refining model design and advancing forecasting methodologies.

Q: Where does the role sit within the university structure? How will the person in this role engage with other units and leaders across campus?

A: This role reports to the executive director of academic budgets and resource planning and is an integral part of the provost’s organization, placing it at the center of academic planning and institutional strategy. It works closely with leaders across academic programs, including school deans and program directors.

The analyst will support strategic planning by modeling potential revenue from new academic programs and partnerships. With strong data‑analytics expertise, the analyst will assist academic leaders by providing timely data and insights needed for informed decision‑making.

In addition, the role collaborates with key university functions such as admissions and central finance to ensure alignment and consistency in enrollment forecasting and financial planning.

Q: What would success look like in one year? Three years? Beyond?

A: At the outset, the focus will be on learning the current planning process and modeling methodologies, with the goal of streamlining the process in preparation for the next planning cycle. During this period, the analyst will also maintain and enhance reporting for academic leaders.

As the university implements a new planning system, the role will have an opportunity to automate key components of the modeling process. Once automation is in place, the emphasis will shift toward refining forecasting methodologies and optimizing planning models within the new system.

Over time, the focus will gradually move from process management to deeper data analysis, with the aim of transforming complex data into meaningful insights that support academic leaders in making informed decisions in the rapidly evolving higher education environment.

Q: What kinds of future roles would someone who took this position be prepared for?

A: The person in this role will have a unique opportunity to gain experience with academic data and operations, enrollment management, and financial modeling and planning. This combination of skills opens the door to a wide range of data‑driven roles across higher education and the nonprofit sector.
