The Trump administration released new dietary guidelines on Wednesday that flipped the food pyramid on its head, putting steak, cheese and whole milk near the top. These guidelines shape the foods served in schools, hospitals, prisons, military bases and through federal assistance programs, and rarely change in substance when they are updated every five years.

New guidelines recognize that whole-nutrient dense food is the most effective path to better health and lower health care costs. Protein and healthy fats are essential, and were wrongly discouraged in prior dietary guidelines.” “Alcohol is a social lubricant that brings people together. In the best-case scenario, I don’t think you should drink alcohol, but it does allow people an excuse to bond and socialize.
