Attacks got personal as California’s top seven candidates for governor faced off on Tuesday ahead of the primary on June 2.
“Don’t pull those stupid statements out and expect to not be called out.” “You’re an oathkeeper.” “You’re not qualified to be governor of California.” “Tom, one of these days let us know how much money you have in the Cayman Islands so we can make sure we tax you.” “Xavier Becerra has taken the max amount of money from Chevron.” “I think everyone’s invoking my name. It’s nice to hear my name quite a bit, and they’re at least pronouncing it correctly.” “He is mired personally in a corruption scandal.” “I was not involved.” “President Biden openly talked about firing him.” “Californians can decide for themselves about my temperament based on what they’ve seen here tonight. I’m able to take responsibility, I’m able to follow the rules, I’m able to say I’m sorry and I’m able to do better.” “Steve and I sat here smiling at each other because we’re just watching you all prove to everyone why they can’t vote for a Democrat.
