I was struck by two adjacent headlines: “More frequent ejaculations may boost men’s fertility” and “Extra 11 minutes’ sleep each night can reduce heart attack risk”. What a terrible dilemma.
    Prof Gareth Williams
    Rockhampton, Gloucestershire

Given the impact of stress on the risk of heart attacks, I wonder how the worry about not sleeping for an extra 11 minutes is going to help me.

Let’s hope that Brabazon isn’t an entirely appropriate name for the future new town (Letters, 24 March). The Bristol Type 167 Brabazon aeroplane was an utter commercial failure – aimed at a luxury market that no longer existed. After great expenditure of public money, only one prototype was built, and it was eventually scrapped.
    Shawn Pearson
    Bristol

On the question of politicians and others in positions of authority learning from their mistakes (Letters, 19 March), I am reminded of Peter Cook’s character Sir Arthur Streeb‑Greebling, who, when asked whether he had learned from his, replied: “Certainly. I have learned from my mistakes and I am sure I could repeat them exactly.”
    Nick Barton
    Templecombe, Somerset

It is rarely used now, but if you are ever offered a choice of a pint or a pony of porter over here, go for the pint (Letters, 23 March). A pony is a regular small wine glass or half a glass.
    Siobhán Ní Chuanaigh
    Clonskeagh, Dublin, Ireland
