There is a recruitment and retention crisis in England’s schools. Teachers are quitting the profession in droves, complaining of worsening pupil behaviour, stagnant pay and inflexible working practices. Vacancies are often difficult to fill.

To address the problem, campaigners from the 4 Day Week Foundation are urging the government to allow schools greater autonomy so they can pilot four-day working weeks in an effort to make teaching more attractive.

A number of schools in the UK have already begun experimenting with more flexible working patterns in schools.

We would like to hear from teachers who are already benefiting from these changes, and those who are struggling with workload on a five-day week. We would also like to hear parents’s views on such changes.
