Stop telling women to smile. Millie Bobby Brown stood up for herself at a Stranger Things event in London last night, confidently responding to a group of photographers screaming at her while walking down the red carpet.

As she posed on the carpet ahead of the event, one photographer yelled “Smile!” Brown quickly replied “Smile? you smile!” as she pointed at the photographers. She then left the carpet with evident displeasure—for good reason.

The cast of the Netflix series, which comes to an end this year, were in London for a special screening at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square. The screening came a week after Brown and her co-star David Harbour reunited at a premiere event following rumors of bullying and harassment on the Stranger Things set. Notably, Harbour was not in attendance last night.

Recently, the Daily Mail reported that Brown allegedly filed harassment and bullying claims against Harbour — who plays her adoptive dad of sorts on the series — with producers of the hit Netflix show prior to shooting the final season. “There were pages and pages of accusations. The investigation went on for months,” a source told the Daily Mail. Brown’s specific accusations against Harbour were not revealed, but no sexual impropriety was reportedly alleged.

Brown has recently shown she has no issue firing back at those who bully her, pushing back against the scrutiny and criticism she has faced regarding her appearance.

“I respect journalism. I love reading articles on my favorite people and hearing what they’re up to. I understand that there’s paparazzi, even though it’s invasive, even though it feels like shit to me — I know that’s your job,” Brown told British Vogue earlier this month. “But don’t, in your headline, slam me at the get-go. It is so wrong, and it is bullying, especially to young girls who are new to this industry and are already questioning everything about it.”

Stranger Things will wrap up this fall with a two-part season. The first four episodes of the season will air on Nov. 26 drop while three more will premiere on Christmas Day. There will be a two-hour finale event released on New Year’s Eve. Timed with the Netflix drop will be a theatrical release of the final episode for fans to watch in real life with other fans.

Brown reflected on the end of Stranger Things in a recent interview with Variety, saying, “I bawled more than I expected I would. While I was at the point personally and professionally for the show to come to an end, I realized in that moment the finality was so real and I was maybe not emotionally prepared.”
