Pelosi Plans To Retire In 2027 After 39 Years in Congress
Representative Nancy Pelosi, the nation’s only female House speaker, announced her decision to retire after 39 years in Congress. Her legacy includes the passage of Obamacare, advocating for HIV/AIDS patients and fund-raising for Democrats.
“I will not be seeking re-election to Congress. With a grateful heart, I look forward to my final year of service as your proud representative.” “I have the high privilege and distinct honor of my own, as the first president to begin the State of the Union message with these words: Madam Speaker.” “I thought she was an evil woman who did a poor job, who cost the country a lot in damages and in reputation. I thought she was terrible.” “I don’t hate anybody. And as a Catholic, I resent your using the word hate in a sentence that addresses me. I don’t hate anyone. I was raised in a way that is full — a heart full of love, and always prayed for the president. And I still pray for the president. I pray for the president all the time. So don’t mess with me when it comes to words like that.”
