Ferrell joined the band for a cover of Townes Van Zandt’s “If I Needed You,” while Wilson stuck around for “Things a Man Oughta Know” and “Awake My Soul”

Mumford & Sons made themselves at home in Nashville during their headlining show at Bridgestone Arena. The band welcomed surprise guests Lainey Wilson and Sierra Ferrell to the stage for a few special changes to their usual setlist.

Ferrell joined the band toward the middle of the set for a cover of Townes Van Zandt’s “If I Needed You.” Wilson appeared later in the set just before the encore. They started off with her own record “Things a Man Oughta Know,” then segued into a one-mic duet of the Sigh No More deep cut “Awake My Soul.”

“I am having the time of my life, I am these guys’ biggest fan,” Wilson told the crowd. “My heart feels so full right now. The love that these guys have put into this tonight, I hope y’all feel it right back.”

In September, Wilson and Mumford & Sons performed “Things a Man Oughta Know” at the New Orleans stop on the Railroad Revival Tour. They also treated the audience to a folky, banjo-backed rendition of Shania Twain‘s classic “Man, I Feel Like a Woman.”

“Can it be Mumford & Sons + one new sister now?” Wilson joked in an Instagram post. “Made music and friends for a lifetime with all of these folks in New Orleans yesterday.”

Mumford & Sons will continue their tour in support of their latest LP, Rushmere, in Austin, followed by stops in Tulsa and Omaha that will conclude the North American leg of the run. This week, the band will also share “Rubber Band Man,” their forthcoming collaboration with Hozier. Mumford & Sons premiered the record live in Buffalo, though the official release is set for Oct. 24. The two acts last performed together at Austin City Limits in 2023 when Hozier joined the band for “Awake My Soul.”
