The Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo has opened up for the first time about her Oct. 9 arrest, along with husband Eddie Osefo, on charges of insurance fraud.

“And through it all, God remains faithful. Thank you for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers for myself and most importantly my family during this time. We are forever grateful” the reality TV star said on her Instagram page late on Sunday. The Osefos were released on Oct. 10 after being booked on 16 insurance fraud charges, including seven felonies.

Wendy Osefo also urged fans to tune into Bravo to view the latest episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac. “Tune into @bravotv tonight for a new episode of #RHOP,” she wrote.

Their arrest followed The Osefos allegedly making false and misleading claims after an April 2024 burglary at their family home that led to the insurance fraud criminal charges. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in Maryland in an Oct. 10 Facebook post claimed the Osefos, after returning from vacation and finding their home had been burgled, reported around 80 luxury items — including jewelry, goods, clothing and shoes, valued at $200,000 — had been stolen

“During the investigation, detectives found that over $20,000 of the items reported stolen had been returned by the owners to the locations the items were purchased. Further, detectives found images of a homeowner wearing jewelry that had been reported stolen after the burglary took place,” the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office alleged.

Wendy Osefo also faces one misdemeanor charge for allegedly making a false statement to a police officer. On Oct. 10, representatives for the Osefos in a statement confirmed the couple had been released on bond.

“They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead,” the statement from the couple’s representatives added at the time.

Season 10 of The Real Housewives of Potomac began airing on Oct. 5. Osefo is set to star in Bravo‘s Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition but after news of the couple’s arrest broke, the network delayed the show’s release date from Oct. 14 to 21.

Osefo became a cast member on Real Housewives of Potomac in 2020. And she’s just the latest figure in the long-running reality TV franchise to face legal woes, with New Jersey star Teresa Giudice, Salt Lake City castmember Jen Shah and Osefo’s RHOP co-star Karen Huger all spending time behind bars.
