Describe your dream blunt rotation… mine would have to include Seth Rogen, Lady Gaga, Barack Obama (and of course my husband, Matt, and two best friends, Julia and Johanna). And thanks to Seth Rogen’s latest collab with Houseplant and Ripple+ Home, I can safely say that if this circle ever did happen (spoiler: it won’t), at least it would smell incredible.

Earlier this month, Rogen’s fan-favorite smoking accessories brand, Houseplant, teamed up with Ripple+ Home, a vape and scent company, to launch a line of limited-edition diffusers. The goal? To mask the smell of smoke and replace it with something far more pleasing.

There are two options up for grabs:

    • The Incense Droplets ($35): According to the brand, this includes “four unique aromas, a custom marble holder, and 48 incense droplets.”
    • The Ash & Scent Set ($85): Featuring “a marble ashtray that doubles as an incense burner, and 46 droplets,” per the description on Ripple’s website.

This launch is ideal if you love to light up in your apartment, basement lounge (aka the room farthest from your kids’ bedrooms), or even an enclosed patio. No more fumbling for a candle in hopes your neighbors won’t think you’re hotboxing your home. Instead, you’ve got décor that actually has purpose, and looks good while doing it.

Rolling Stone caught up with Seth Rogen, everyone’s favorite celebrity stoner, to talk about the launch. Read the interview below.

What made you want to partner with Ripple+?
Any company we align with needs to care and obsess about quality and the details. We were initially attracted to Ripple⁺ after seeing their incense sets — they were so colorful, and the packaging looked so nice. We loved the idea of creating a more immersive experience for our customers, and the idea of adding a whole new sensory component with smell was exciting.

How do you think this will amplify the smoking experience?
A lot of times, when people smoke, it’s a little moment just for yourself, or for you and your partner or friends. Scent is already a part of many people’s smoking rituals, I think it has been for centuries. I don’t know that it is amplifying it so much, but I think it is a great supporting role.

You’re already busy as one of Hollywood’s most successful actors, so why did you want to get into the cannabis industry?
I’d say I’ve been talking about weed and smoking weed since before my career even started. As I’ve said before, to me, it’s just part of my daily life, in the same category as shoes or glasses. It’s something that helps me move through my day more easily and happily. As my tastes evolved and I had some money to buy things for my home, I really couldn’t find any ashtrays that spoke to me and my sensibilities, aside from some vintage pieces from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, I started to collect. Most of the new stuff looked cheap or just appealed to a much different taste. And we figured, if we were seeing this hole in the market and wanted to buy nice things related to smoking weed, then there were probably a lot of others looking for that stuff too. So we started to make our own products, and it all just kind of happened from there.

Why do you think this new product will appeal to others?
People seem to really love incense. As with anything we do, we look to put our spin on it with packaging and usability. These turned out really nice, and honestly, I just think people will be excited to buy or gift a great-looking incense set. The colors are incredible, and each little droplet gives you around ten minutes of scent.

Do you have a favorite component of it?
I’d say the hand-carved marble incense vessel from the Ash & Scent Set. It’s a piece that can stand on its own on a table, and it’s cool because it works as both an ashtray and an incense burner. I really do love all the scents we made, but if I had to pick a favorite, I’d say Sweet Herb.

What was the collaboration process like?
It was a lot of smelling things. The ripple⁺ team had a great handle on the scent side, and they were really receptive to our thoughts around the marble vessel and making sure it looked great and was really thoughtful and user-friendly.

Will we see more of these partnerships from Houseplant in the future?
Yes. We’re always thinking about how we can continue to provide exciting new products and create opportunities for more meaningful experiences for our customers. Collaborations like these are a great way for us to grow into new areas of the home.
