Emmys Host Donates to Charity, With No Help From Stars

Nate Bargatze, host of the 77th Emmy Awards, pledged $100,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. To keep speeches short, he deducted $1,000 for every second a winner went over their given time.

“45 seconds. That’s what you got. I am going to donate $100,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Every second you go over 45 seconds, we will deduct $1,000 away from the Boys & Girls Clubs. I know, I know. If you go under, we will put $1,000 a second back on. By the way, we wanted to see. We already got started. Seth. Congrats. What did Seth do? Was he over, under? All right.” “Thank you to you all for real. Thank you guys.” “Thanks to every executive out there.” “Thank you to the executives. Thank your executives.” “Honestly, I think I’ve made money. The number, to be honest with you, it was embarrassing. It went way down. CBS is going to add $100,000. I will give $250,000. It takes us to $350,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs. Thank you guys so much for being out here. Congrats to all the winners.”
