    Owen Cooper Wins Emmy for Supporting Actor in Limited Series

    Owen Cooper won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie Sunday for his work on the Netflix miniseries “Adolescence.”

    Along with Cooper, nominees in the limited-series supporting actor category included Javier Bardem for his performance in Netflix’s “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” FX’s “Dying for Sex” actor Rob Delaney, Apple TV+’s “Presumed Innocent” star Peter Sarsgaard, Bill Camp, also of “Presumed Innocent,” and Netflix’s “Adolescence” actor Ashley Walters.

    “It says my name on the statue, but it really belongs to all of the people who worked on the show,” Cooper said in his acceptance speech.

    15-year-old English actor Cooper was nominated for playing Jamie Miller in the Netflix miniseries “Adolescence,” which was his breakout role. He has become the youngest-ever male acting winner in Emmy history. The newcomer is next set to play Callum in the upcoming BBC drama series “Film Club” and has been cast as Young Healthcliff in Emerald Fennell’s upcoming adaptation of “Wuthering Heights” starring Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie.

    He beat fellow nominees Javier Bardem of “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” “Dying for Sex” actor Rob Delaney, Apple TV+’s “Presumed Innocent” star Peter Sarsgaard, Bill Camp, also of “Presumed Innocent,” and “Adolescence” co-star Ashley Walters.
