If there’s anything college students love more than decorating the 3 foot by 3 foot concrete boxes we call dorms, it’s still finding ways to hack the biggest bowl of Chipotle possible. Sure, the kids aren’t saying “Chipotle is my liiiiiiiiiife” like they were back in 2016, but I’m already seeing 2010s campus “nostalgia” posts flooding the feeds on TikTok, so at this point, nothing is sacred.

Speaking of zhuzhing up that dorm room — Urban Outfitters has quickly become a go-to, back-to-school shopping destination for the past couple years thanks to some highly-anticipated drops around the fall, full of “dopamine” decor with maximalist designs (think tomato-shaped lamps, or colorful crates for storing your “retro” vinyl) meant for itty-bitty living spaces. It was no surprise then that UO would reach into a tattoo lettering-covered chip bag of tricks to pull out some tasty decor morsels for a limited-edition collection this year.

Urban Outfitters x Chipotle “A Little Extra” Dorm Collection

Thus, the Urban Outfitters x Chipotle “A Little Extra” Dorm Collection was born, a line of small-space room decor dedicated to both brands’ college superfans. I must admit that I’m the exact target audience for this kind of collab — every year my college friend group would trek off-campus on Halloween in our costumes to get a free (or half-off, or BOGO) Boorito. But we were curious as to whether this type of branded line would feel instantly dated, or if it could pass as serious room furnishings you might actually want to take with to your first post-graduation apartment.

The good news is that while this decor may be (lovingly) as extra as a side of guac, it’s also…surprisingly chic? Highlights of the collection include angular, modern bean bag chairs inspired by black and pinto beans, a cozy throw blanket designed to look like a foil-wrapped tortilla (that’s nicer looking than that one cheap tortilla blanket on everyone’s “quirkiest gifts guide”), and a desk light shaped like Chipotle’s iconic chip bag. While you might have to have a discussion with your roommates if you want to put the “Leave My Chipotle Here : )” Delivery Doormat outside your apartment, I have a soft spot for the embroidered “It’s okay to be a little extra” throw pillow — maybe that’s just the zillennial Live, Laugh, Love in me jumping out.

“…Dorm room décor has evolved to become an extension of college students’ identities,” said Chris Brandt, President, Chief Brand Officer of Chipotle in a statement. “The dorm collection allows our fans who live and breathe Chipotle to bring a taste of fandom to their living space on campus.”

Like previously mentioned, Urban Outfitters has been leaning hard into trend-driven dorm décor lately, recently launching its colorful, small-space-friendly Design Your Dorm collection earlier this summer – all priced under $500. This collaboration comes off the heels of their UO Haul campaign with Collegeboxes by U-Haul, which celebrated Gen Z’s dorm journey, from big moves and makeovers to self-expression in smallest bits of real estate.

The sweeten the new semester deal even further, Chipotle is launching a new loyalty program for students called Chipotle U Rewards. Students can score 1,000 bonus points upon enrolling in Chipotle U Rewards and earn 20% more points on every purchase, resulting in free Chipotle faster. College students can enroll here at Chipotle.com.

In the meantime, even if you’re not a college student, you can scoop up pieces from Urban Outfitters x Chipotle ‘A Little Extra’ Dorm Collection online at UrbanOutfitters.com and in-store at select Urban Outfitters locations in prominent college towns. Enjoy your tasty new space!
