James Gunn is keeping the future of Margot Robbie‘s Harley Quinn in his new DC Universe vague.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn was asked if Robbie would return to play the deadly, wisecracking antihero in future DC projects. The “Superman” director kept his answer brief.

“That will be revealed down the line,” he said.

While Harley Quinn’s future in the DC Universe is anyone’s guess, Gunn made it clear that he wants to see the return of another “Suicide Squad” member, Idris Elba’s Bloodsport.

“I definitely am always looking for a place to put Bloodsport and figuring that out,” He said. “So we’ll see what happens.”

Robbie played the Joker’s right-hand woman in three DC Films. First in 2016’s “Suicide Squad,” then in 2020’s “Birds of Prey,” and then finally, Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” in 2021.

Back in 2020, Robbie told Variety she “fell in love” with Harley Quinn while shooting the first “Suicide Squad.” She explained that she dove into research for the character, listening to TED talks by women with schizophrenia and reading heaps of comic books.

She said at the time, “Harley has this unpredictable nature that means she could react in any way to any situation, which as an actor is just a gift.”

Fans may get a glimpse of Harley in Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated “Batman Part II,” given her comic book connection to the Caped Crusader. However, the first “Batman” was released in March of 2022, several months before Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios. So it’s unclear whether or not that franchise will be woven into Gunn’s interconnected universe. Other upcoming projects in DC’s slate include “Clayface” and “Wonder Woman.”
