The Boy Who Lived will live on for a new generation of audiobook listeners, as Audible and Pottermore Publishing gear up for the release of their full-cast English audio production of Harry Potter. The project is slated to kick off with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone on Nov. 4, the companies said Tuesday, with the remaining six books debuting each month after that. Preorders are available now.

The leading cast members for the project have also been announced. They include Hugh Laurie as Albus Dumbledore, Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Voldemort, Riz Ahmed as Professor Snape and Michelle Gomez as Professor McGonagall. Cush Jumbo will narrate.

For the first three audiobooks, Frankie Treadaway will play Harry Potter, Max Lester will play Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton, who is also set to play Hermione Granger in the upcoming HBO Original Harry Potter TV series, will voice the astute witch.

For the remaining four books, Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan and Nina Barker-Francis will play Harry, Ron and Hermione, respectively.

More than 200 actors lent their voices to the project, and “additional cast members will be announced this fall,” Audible and Pottermore Publishing said in a joint release. Production has nearly wrapped, with “over 2,000 recording hours logged” for these unabridged editions.

“These brand-new productions of the original seven stories by JK Rowling will showcase the listening experiences as never heard before — offering immersive audio entertainment through high-quality sound design in Dolby Atmos, stunning scoring, captivating performances from A-list actors, original music, and real-world sound capture,” the companies said.

Here’s the full release schedule for Audible’s full-cast Harry Potter audio production:

    • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: Nov. 4, 2025
    • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Dec. 16, 2025
    • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: Jan. 13, 2026
    • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: Feb. 10, 2026
    • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: March 10, 2026
    • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: April 14, 2026
    • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: May 12, 2026

And fear not: The original Harry Potter audiobooks narrated by Jim Dale and Stephen Fry aren’t going anywhere, Audible says. This new production will merely join those versions, as well as other audiobooks in its Harry Potter collection, which includes The Tales of Beedle the Bard voiced by actors like Jason Isaacs and Bonnie Wright, Harry Potter: A History of Magic performed by Natalie Dormer, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them performed by Eddie Redmayne, Quidditch Through the Ages performed by Andrew Lincoln and From The Wizarding Archive featuring Evanna Lynch.

Harry Potter was first published in 1997; the audiobooks followed in 1999 and launched on Audible in 2015. The series has enchanted generations of readers and viewers of the film adaptations. Harry Potter has continued to grow in popularity, despite recent controversy surrounding author JK Rowling, thanks to the power of nostalgia and the expansion of the Wizarding World in the form of the Universal Studios theme parks, Harry Potter shops, Fantastic Beasts movie franchise and the Hogwarts Legacy game.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Audible to reimagine the Harry Potter stories through this groundbreaking full-cast audio experience,” Neil Blair, chairman of Pottermore Publishing, said in a statement. “JK Rowling’s rich, immersive world is perfectly suited to this next evolution in audiobook storytelling. We can’t wait for a new generation of children around the world to discover the stories in this exciting new way.”
