\n\tThe Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has named three new governors-at-large to its Board of Governors: Haifaa Al-Mansour (directors branch), Effie T. Brown (producers branch) and Annie Chang (production and technology branch). Each will begin a three-year term with the start of the Academy\u2019s 2025\u20132026 fiscal year.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to welcome Haifaa, Effie and Annie to the Academy\u2019s Board of Governors,\u201d said Academy President Janet Yang in a statement. \u201cTheir wealth of experiences, perspectives and dedication will be vital to our ongoing global and industry outreach efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tYang also thanked outgoing governors-at-large DeVon Franklin and Rodrigo Garc\u00eda for their six years of service.<\/p>\n
\n\tGovernors-at-large, like their branch-elected counterparts, may serve up to two three-year terms \u2014 either consecutively or non-consecutively \u2014 followed by a two-year hiatus. After the hiatus, they may serve up to two additional terms, with a lifetime cap of 12 years.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Board of Governors is responsible for setting the Academy\u2019s strategic vision, maintaining its financial stability and ensuring the fulfillment of its mission to support excellence in the motion picture arts and sciences.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Academy recently announced its newly elected Board of Governors, which includes Focus Features\u2019 chairman Peter Kujawski (executives branch), Gigi Williams (makeup artists and hairstylists branch), Carter Burwell (music branch) and Andrew Roberts (visual effects branch). The Board of Governors also\u00a0recently announced the honorees\u00a0for the 16th annual Governors Awards: Tom Cruise, Dolly Parton, Debbie Allen and Wynn Thomas.<\/p>\n
