Rick Ross has been arrested on domestic violence charges in Miami Beach, according to local police.<\/p>\n
The rapper was booked at Turner Guilford Knight correctional center at 6.10am local time on Thursday and faces one felony count of battery by strangulation as well as a misdemeanor count of battery.<\/p>\n
Bond has been listed at $6,000, according to Miami-Dade jail and court records.<\/p>\n
Local authorities have not specified the circumstances that led to Ross\u2019s arrest or details of the alleged incident. They also do not identify the alleged victim of the charges.<\/p>\n
The Guardian has reached out to the musician\u2019s representative for comment.<\/p>\n
The arrest comes days after Rick Ross\u2019s ex-girlfriend Jazzma Kendrick alleged that the rapper was physically abusive to her, People magazine reported.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe saw a punching bag,\u201d she wrote on an Instagram story after sharing images of a swollen lip that she said was caused by Ross. Alongside the picture she wrote: \u201cThe day Rick busted my lip and the day I left.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know a lot of things, but I do know that a man that puts his hands on me, is a man that never loved me and never will,\u201d Kendrick posted over another image.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s always good until it isn\u2019t,\u201d she said. \u201cIf a man hits you one time, he will do it again. Don\u2019t give him the opportunity. Value your life and leave.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rick Ross, born William Leonard Roberts, is a longtime Miami resident with five No 1 albums and hit collaborations with Drake, DJ Khaled and Nicki Minaj, among many others. In July he released his 12th studio album, Set In Stone, which featured Gucci Mane, The-Dream and Yung Miami.<\/p>\n
Local court records say that Ross has retained attorney Bradley Horenstein. His arraignment is set for 22 October.<\/p>\n
