As before, we propose to rank the firms in six broad sectors:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"o3-editorial-typography-list-unordered\">\n<li>\n<p>Chemistry &amp; Pharmaceuticals<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Electrical Engineering<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Mechanical Engineering<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Biotechnology, Food &amp; Healthcare<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Materials &amp; Nanotechnology<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>IT &amp; Software<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The FT\u2019s research partner, Statista, will compile these rankings based on a survey made available to our readers. The final list will be published online in June.<\/p>\n<p>The survey will collect peer recommendations from patent attorneys that are registered with the European Patent Office (EPO), as well as nominations from clients who have used a patent law firm in one of the 39 member states of the Munich-based EPO*.<\/p>\n<p class=\"n-content-recommended__title o3-type-body-highlight\">Recommended<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for submissions is March 27.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Statista will invite selected patent attorneys and clients to participate via email. If you have not received your invitation yet, you can take part in our survey <strong>via this link<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Participation is free and the survey takes just a few minutes to complete. All responses will be anonymised for publication. No self-recommendations are allowed. The survey is available in English, German, French and Italian.<\/p>\n<p>The FT will publish the list online as an interactive table with firms grouped in one of three categories.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"o3-editorial-typography-list-ordered\">\n<li>\n<p>\ud83e\udd47 <strong>Gold<\/strong> for <em>\u201cvery frequently recommended\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>\ud83e\udd48 <strong>Silver<\/strong> for <em>\u201cfrequently recommended\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>\ud83e\udd49 <strong>Bronze<\/strong> for <em>\u201crecommended\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>*Firms from EPO member states are eligible: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the United Kingdom.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unlock the Editor\u2019s Digest for free Roula Khalaf, Editor of the FT, selects her favourite stories in this weekly newsletter.
