They have previously insisted there was a \u201chuge wall\u201d between their moneymaking and their father\u2019s position.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Griffin added that most chief executives he was friends with \u201cfind it incredibly distasteful\u201d when the \u201cUS government starts to engage in corporate America in a way that tastes of favouritism\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cMost CEOs just don\u2019t want to find themselves in the business of having to, in some sense, suck up to one administration after another to succeed in running their business,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Griffin is a longtime Republican donor, giving millions of dollars to conservative groups during the 2024 election cycle. He did not fund Trump\u2019s re-election campaign, but after Trump won, he gave $1m to the president\u2019s inaugural committee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">He did highlight specific Trump policies that he supported at the conference in Florida, including the president\u2019s focus on securing the US border with Mexico and his nomination of Kevin Warsh as chair of the Federal Reserve last week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The billionaire also suggested he might run for office himself, and said: \u201cIn a future point in my life I would like to be involved in public service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">In response to Griffin\u2019s comments, the White House spokesperson Kush Desai told the Financial Times: \u201cThe only special interest guiding the Trump administration\u2019s decision-making is the best interest of the American people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThe fact that major stock indexes have hit multiple all-time highs, real wages have grown, and inflation has cooled since president Trump took office is proof that this administration is delivering for every American.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The billionaire investor Ken Griffin has accused Donald Trump\u2019s administration of \u201cenriching\u201d its families, and criticised its interference in American businesses as \u201cdistasteful\u201d.
