\n\tLive on stage at BravoCon in Las Vegas Friday night,\u00a0\u201cReal Housewives\u201d executive producer Andy Cohen offered Vicki Gunvalson her old job back for the upcoming 20th season of \u201cThe Real Housewives of Orange County.\u201d During a taping of \u201cThe Bravos\u201d \u2014\u00a0BravoCon\u2019s biennial awards show, which will air on Nov. 16 \u2014\u00a0Cohen told Gunvalson he wants her as a full-time cast member on the show for its historic Season 20. \u201cThe Real Housewives of Orange County,\u201d which premiered on Bravo on March 21, 2006, was the inaugural series in the franchise that would change Bravo, and popular culture writ large.<\/p>\n
\n\tGunvalson, seemingly surprised when Cohen handed her the show\u2019s symbolic orange, immediately said yes to the offer.<\/p>\n
\n\tGunvalson \u2014 who in her Season 10 tagline iconically declared, \u201cI\u2019m the OG of the OC, and everyone else is just a copy\u201d \u2014 helped create the template for \u201cReal Housewives\u201d cast members. As the owner of a successful insursance company in Orange County, she\u2019s a professional woman with two kids and an incredibly messy personal life. <\/p>\n
\n\tSeason 19 of \u201cThe Real Housewives of Orange County\u201d is set to conclude on Nov. 20, with the third of its reunion episodes. As the first of the \u201cReal Housewives\u201d shows to reach a 20th season,\u00a0a rarely achieved milestone for any television show, Bravo is expected to plan celebrations around this landmark. After an inwardly focused 19th season \u2014 during which the cast argued excessively about off-screen events, such as illicit conversations with Bravo \u201cbloggers\u201d \u2014 \u201cRHOC\u201d is expected to have a shake-up of its lineup.<\/p>\n
\n\tEnter, Vicki Gunvalson. At the start of \u201cThe Real Housewives of Orange County,\u201d Gunvalson was married to Donn Gunvalson (her second husband), but after she told him that her \u201clove tank was empty\u201d (due to his lack of romantic gestures) they split, and divorced in 2014.<\/p>\n
\n\tGunvalson\u2019s divorce set the stage for one of the best seasons in \u201cReal Housewives\u201d history: Season 10 of \u201cRHOC,\u201d which showed that the series could go from being a docusoap about women\u2019s lives to being a riveting true crime thriller. Brooks Ayers, Gunvalson\u2019s boyfriend, faked a cancer diagnosis, and it took a village of women to expose Brooks, led by Detective Meghan King, with assists from Officers Shannon Beador, Tamra Judge and Vicki\u2019s own daughter, Briana Culberson (who hated Brooks most of all).<\/p>\n
\n\tRarely has there been a more satisfying mystery on television, as the truth about his faked diagnosis of stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma \u2014\u00a0including him forging medical records and bills \u2014 unfolded as the season came to a head. Gunvalson never broke, though, and never spilled exactly what she knew, and when she knew it. As another real-life \u201cDirty John\u201d narrative, Brooks-faking-cancer forever expanded the pleasures of what \u201cReal Housewives\u201d can do.<\/p>\n
\n\tGunvalson was a fulltime cast member through Season 13, but was demoted to \u201cfriend\u201d status the next season, after Cohen said they wanted to \u201cfreshen\u201d the show. She\u2019s appeared occasionally since, since she and Beador remain close (though the erstwhile \u201ctres amigas\u201d \u2014\u00a0Beador, Judge and Gunvalson are no more).<\/p>\n
