The filmmakers say the picture will provide a \u201ccontemporary take on the millennial-coming-of-age\u201d tale, but will tell the story through a distinctly female lens.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe film boasts an impressive ensemble that includes Megan Mullally (\u201cWill and Grace\u201d), Garrett Wareing (\u201cThe Long Walk\u201d), Lola Tung (\u201cThe Summer I Turned Pretty\u201d), Tom Welling (\u201cSmallville\u201d), Aimee Garcia (\u201cDexter\u201d), Cassidy Freeman (\u201cThe Righteous Gemstones\u201d) and Jeff Perry (\u201cScandal\u201d).<\/p>\n
\n\tShlesinger is an actor, writer and stand-up comic whose on-screen credits include \u201cGood on Paper\u201d (which she also wrote), \u201cSpenser Confidential,\u201d \u201cPieces of a Woman,\u201d \u201cThe Righteous Gemstones\u201d and \u201cInstant Family.\u201d Her seventh special, \u201cIliza Shlesinger: A Different Animal,\u201d is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. She is the author of \u201cAll Things Aside: Absolutely Correct Opinions\u201d and \u201cGirl Logic: The Genius and the Absurdity.\u201d Shlesinger hosts the podcast \u201cAIA: Ask Iliza Anything.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tDecker is best known for her Berlinale and Sundance-selected features \u201cMadeleine\u2019s Madeleine\u201d and \u201cShirley,\u201d the latter of which won her a Special Jury Award for Auteur Filmmaking at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. <\/p>\n
\n\tIn \u201cChasing Summer,\u201d Shlesinger stars as Jamie, who, after losing both her job and boyfriend, retreats to her small Texas hometown where friends and flings from a fateful high school summer turn her life upside down. The film was shot this past summer, but never announced.<\/p>\n
