\n\tCrime drama \u015aleboda<\/em> (Deadly Ties<\/em>),\u00a0streaming service SkyShowtime\u2018s first locally commissioned Polish original series, which has turned out to be an audience hit, will return for another season under the working title Pionek<\/em>, the joint venture of Comcast and Paramount Skydance said on Thursday. It will be based on the second novel in the critically acclaimed series of novels by Ma\u0142gorzata Fugiel-Ku\u017ami\u0144ska and Micha\u0142 Ku\u017ami\u0144ski that was adapted for \u015aleboda<\/em><\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\tPionek<\/em>, set to start production later this year, marks SkyShowtime\u2019s first Polish recommission and\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>will continue the story of Anka Serafin and Sebastian Strzygo\u0144, with Maria D\u0119bska and Maciej Musia\u0142 set to return in the lead roles.<\/p>\n \n\t\u015aleboda<\/em> quickly became the streamer\u2019s best-performing series in the market to-date, leading SkyShowtime to make it available across all its more than 20 markets. The series\u00a0revolved around Anka (D\u0119bska), a young anthropologist on a journey of self-discovery, who travels to the beautiful landscape of the Podhale region at the foot of the Tatra mountains only to stumble upon a dead body. She quickly becomes entangled in a murder mystery, crossing paths with Sebastian (Musia\u0142), a shameless journalist on the hunt for a scoop, and J\u0119drek (Pacek), a local police officer with whom she shared a teenage romance.<\/p>\n \n\tPionek<\/em> will again be written by Karolina Frankowska and Katarzyna Golenia and directed by Micha\u0142 Gazda and Bartosz Blaschke.
