\n\t\u201cI Swear,\u201d the British indie film about Tourette\u2019s Syndrome campaigner John Davidson that has already been a hit with audiences and critics in the U.K., has been bought by Sony Pictures Classics. <\/p>\n
\n\tSPC acquired all rights to the film for the United States, Latin America, most of Eastern Europe, Turkey, Southeast Asia, Portugal and South Korea. <\/p>\n
\n\tWritten and directed by BAFTA nominee Kirk Jones (\u201cWaked Ned Devine,\u201d \u201cNanny McPhee\u201d), \u201cI Swear\u201d first premiered in Toronto to critical acclaim and earlier this month launched in U.K. and Irish cinemas, opening at third spot behind \u201cTron: Ares\u201d and \u201cOne Battle After Another.\u201d According to distributor StudioCanal, it also set a new record as the most highly rated film by cinemas audiences since records began in the U.K. \u2014\u00a0 above \u201cBohemian Rhapsody,\u201d \u201cTop Gun Maverick\u201d and \u201cParasite\u201d in Comscore PostTrak exit polls. <\/p>\n
\n\tAlongside Robert Aramayo (\u201cThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power\u201d) as the lead, the film\u2019s supporting cast includes three-time BAFTA nominee Maxine Peake (\u201cSay Nothing,\u201d \u201cThe Theory of Everything\u201d), BAFTA winner Shirley Henderson (\u201cBridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,\u201d \u201cHarry Potter\u201d) and Cannes best actor Award winner and Golden Lion winner Peter Mullan (\u201cWar Horse,\u201d \u201cThe Magdalene Sisters\u201d).<\/p>\n
\n\tSet in 1980s Britain, \u201cI Swear\u201d charts Davidson\u2019s Tourette\u2019s diagnosis at the age of 15 years old, following him throughout his troubled teens and early adulthood exploring this little known and entirely misunderstood condition, along with his attempts to live a \u201cnormal\u201d life against the odds. The production worked closely with the Tourette\u2019s community, casting individuals who live with Tourette\u2019s, and collaborated with a Tourette\u2019s charity.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe film was produced by Jones, Georgia Bayliff and Piers Tempest for One Story High and Tempo Productions. Cindy Jones and John Davidson serve as executive Producers.<\/p>\n
