\n\tBen Stiller is offering some encouraging words for comedians as they continue to navigate these \u201cchallenging\u201d times for comedy in the wake of Donald Trump\u2018s second term in the White House.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe actor-director-producer behind several iconic comedies shared some advice during a recent interview with the\u00a0Radio Times\u00a0<\/em>magazine, as he was promoting his new Apple TV documentary\u00a0Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost<\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWe live in a world where taking chances with comedy is more challenging,\u201d Stiller said. \u201cYou\u2019re seeing that front and center in our country.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tHe continued, \u201cBut I think it\u2019s important that comedians keep doing what they\u2019re doing, speaking truth to power and being free to say what they want. That\u2019s the most important thing.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tStiller\u2019s comments followed Disney\u2019s brief suspension of Jimmy Kimmel\u00a0Live! <\/em>last month after a comment host Jimmy Kimmel made during his Sept. 15 episode drew heat online, including\u00a0from FCC chair Brendan Carr. During Kimmel\u2019s remark in question, he said, \u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe Zoolander<\/em> star was among many Hollywood notables who spoke out against Kimmel\u2019s suspension, writing on X at the time, \u201cThis isn\u2019t right.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tStiller\u2019s been openly critical of Trump and his administration\u2019s policies. He also previously showed his support for Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 presidential election, even speaking during the Unite For America call last year, hosted by Oprah Winfrey.<\/p>\n \n\tWhile Stiller has pivoted to more television in recent years, specifically as an executive producer on the Emmy-winning drama Severance<\/em>, it\u2019s impossible to forget his comedy work with Zoolander<\/em>, Zoolander 2<\/em> and Tropic Thunder<\/em>.
