\n\tBanijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic, part of Banijay Americas, is gearing up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a new travel docu series, \u201cTres hinchapelotas\u201d (a working title), which roughly translates to \u201cThree Fans, One Goal.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tLet by three Latino household names \u2013 Jaime Camil (\u201cJane the Virgin\u201d), Marcelo Tinelli (\u201cVideomatch\u201d) and Jorge Enrique Abello (\u201cUgly Betty\u201c) \u2013 the upcoming series will capitalize on the buildup to the FIFA World Cup, which will play across North America.<\/p>\n
\n\tUsing whatever means of transport available, they plan to explore \u201cthe\u00a0f\u00fatbol<\/em> soul\u201d (soccer) of each city, from its restaurants, nightlife to whatever surprises they have in store, ending the journey in Mexico City.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThis isn\u2019t your typical travel docuseries, it\u2019s an emotional ride through the cities, cultures and fandoms with three Latin showbiz legends who eat and breathe f\u00fatbol<\/em>,\u201d said Marie Leguizamo, managing director of Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic, \u201cWe can\u2019t wait to take fans on this epic journey ahead of next year\u2019s World Cup.\u201d<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\tMarie Leguizamo (Courtesy of Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic)<\/span><\/p>\n \n\tCamil, while best known for his role in \u201cJane the Virgin,\u201d also portrayed legendary Mariachi singer-actor Vicente Fernandez in \u201cEl Rey\u201d (Netflix), starred in Broadway\u2019s \u201cChicago,\u201d Apple TV series \u201cSchmigadoon\u201d and recently starred in Steven Soderbergh\u2019s pic, \u201cKimi.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tHe\u2019s also a co-owner of LAFC, one of Major League Soccer\u2019s newest franchises. In addition, he also toplined campaigns for major sports brands, brought the energy of Mexican rock band El Tri to global audiences and, like a true soccer fan, never misses critical matches.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThis will be something truly majestic,\u201d said Camil. \u201cThis series will go beyond the normal aspect of sports-sharing experiences, offering the audience a chance to experience this fascinating, extraordinary journey with us.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tAbello agreed: \u201cOnly ideas that contain risk are worth it, and when you work with Marie Leguizamo as a producer, you know that you are going to take the maximum risk, that is what drives me to take this trip with two great friends!!!\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tColombian-born, Abello is best known as Don Armando, a key character in the most adapted telenovela in television history: the original Colombian \u201cUgly Betty\u201d (\u201cYo soy Betty, la fea\u201d) and its sequel \u201cUgly Betty: The Story Continues\u201d (\u201cBetty la fea: la historia continua\u201d), both on Prime Video.<\/p>\n \n\tHe\u2019s starred in more than 20 telenovelas, hosted \u201cLOL Colombia\u201d on Prime Video and wrote the best-selling book \u201cLa Despedida,\u201d part memoir, part social commentary.<\/p>\n \n\tTinelli, a former sportscaster from Argentina, presided over the San Lorenzo soccer club for nine years where it won its first Copa Libertadores title under his tenure. He made his mark hosting \u201cVideomatch,\u201d that evolved into a multi award-winning sports comedy show, popular for its blooper reels, hidden cameras and sketches. His production company LaFlia has produced \u201cShowmatch\u201d and family docu series \u201cLos Tinelli,\u201d which streams on Prime Video, among others. \u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tSaid Tinelli: \u201cIt\u2019s a great honor for me to be a part of this project, which I\u2019m very excited about.
