The show will be directed by Nicola Marsh, who was also behind the Demi Lovato documentary Child Star.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The news comes a year after the death of their fellow bandmate Liam Payne, who died in an accident in Argentina. In an on-stage tribute soon afterwards, Malik referred to Payne as his \u201cbrother\u201d while on Instagram, and Tomlinson called him \u201cthe most vital part\u201d of One Direction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The group, formed on The X Factor in 2010, became one of the most successful boybands of all time, selling over 70m records. Malik left in 2015 and has since enjoyed solo success while Tomlinson released his third studio album earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Before Payne\u2019s death, reports suggested that the band was to reunite for a special show. Payne has since been seen posthumously in Netflix\u2019s talent competition Building the Band.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Malik and Tomlinson engaged in a social media spat back in 2015 when the former accused the latter of making \u201cbitchy comments\u201d about him online.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The pair were seen together recently and Tomlinson was asked about rumours they would be working on something together. \u201cI heard that,\u201d he said. \u201cI thought that was pretty interesting, yeah \u2026 Pretty astute. I suppose they\u2019ll just have to wait and see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Last month, Malik announced a residency in Las Vegas that will take place next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The as-yet-untitled show is expected to land on Netflix in 2026.
