\n\tTwo time Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Garbus has produced and directed insightful documentaries such as \u201cThe Farm: Angola, USA,\u201d \u201cBobby Fischer Against the World,\u201d \u201cGhosts of Abu Ghraib,\u201d \u201cLove, Marilyn,\u201d \u201cWhat Happened, Miss Simone?,\u201d and \u201cBecoming Cousteau.\u201d This year, she helmed the true crime docuseries \u201cGone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer\u201d on Netflix and \u201cOne Night in Idaho: The College Murders\u201d on Amazon Prime Video. She also directed the 2020 narrative feature \u201cLost Girls\u201d and episodes of \u201cThe Handmaid\u2019s Tale,\u201d \u201cYellowjackets\u201d and \u201cGood American Family.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tConsidered a leading voice in documentary film, Garbus continues to direct and produce under her New York-based production company, Story\u00a0Syndicate.<\/p>\n

\n\tAcademy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Announces 2025 Gold Fellowship For Women Recipients<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tAlina Simone (\u201cBlack Snow\u201d) and Marl\u00e9n Vi\u00f1ayo (\u201cCachada: The Opportunity\u201d)\u00a0 have been selected as the recipients of the 2025 Academy Gold Fellowship for Women, presented by Chanel. The Gold Fellowship for Women is a one-year program that combines support, personalized mentorship and access tonetworking opportunities for emerging women filmmakers. The two fellowships are presented annually to a U.S.-based filmmaker and a non-U.S.-based filmmaker.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cChampioning and inspiring new generations of global filmmakers is core to the Academy\u2019s mission, and we\u2019re thrilled to continue this work through the Gold Fellowship for Women.
