\n\tDonald Trump gloated over the news that ABC has pulled Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s show off the air \u201cindefinitely\u201d after the host\u2019s comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe president declared on Truth Social that the suspension of the late-night show was \u201cGreat News for America\u201d and congratulated the network \u201cfor finally having the courage to do what had to be done.\u201d Trump, who also reveled in the cancellation of Stephen Colbert\u2019s The Late Show <\/em>on CBS earlier this summer, claimed, \u201cKimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert,\u201d before taking aim at Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, calling them \u201ctwo total losers, on Fake News NBC.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tDuring Kimmel\u2019s Monday night monologue, the host accused right-wingers of attempting to \u201cscore political points\u201d from Kirk\u2019s killing, after they spent the weekend broadly pinning blame on the left, well before the public had any clarity about the shooter\u2019s motives.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,\u201d Kimmel said on his show.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tFox News was quick to interpret\u00a0Kimmel\u2019s comments to mean that he had suggested the \u201cKirk shooter was part of [the] \u2018MAGA gang,\u2019\u201d despite Kimmel not actually conveying that.<\/p>\n \n\tBy Wednesday, shortly after Nexstar kicked his late-night show off its U.S. stations, an ABC spokesperson told\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/em>\u00a0that \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live\u00a0will be pre-empted indefinitely.\u201d<\/p>\n \t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n<\/h2>\n \n\tEarlier in the day, Trump\u2019s Federal Communications Commission chairman, Brendan Carr, publicly\u00a0called on\u00a0licensed broadcasters to stop airing Kimmel\u2019s show. \u201cI think that it\u2019s really sort of past time that a lot of these licensed broadcasters themselves push back on Comcast and Disney and say, \u2018Listen, we are going to preempt, we are not going to run\u00a0Kimmel<\/em>\u00a0anymore, until you straighten this out because we, we licensed broadcaster, are running the possibility of fines or license revocation from the FCC if we continue to run content that ends up being a pattern of news distortion,\u2019\u201d Carr said when speaking with conservative podcaster Benny Johnson.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWe can do this the easy way or the hard way,\u201d Carr continued. \u201cThese companies can find ways to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel or there\u2019s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Donald Trump gloated over the news that ABC has pulled Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s show off the air \u201cindefinitely\u201d after the host\u2019s comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
