{"id":22086,"date":"2025-09-18T03:27:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T03:27:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/naijaglobalnews.org\/?p=22086"},"modified":"2025-09-18T03:27:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T03:27:08","slug":"abc-barred-from-trumps-uk-press-conference-after-clash-with-australian-journalist-john-lyons-australian-broadcasting-corporation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/naijaglobalnews.org\/?p=22086","title":{"rendered":"ABC barred from Trump\u2019s UK press conference after clash with Australian journalist John Lyons | Australian Broadcasting Corporation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The ABC has been barred from attending Donald Trump\u2019s press conference near London this week after a clash between the broadcaster\u2019s Americas editor, John Lyons, and the president in Washington DC over his business dealings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The Australian broadcaster said its London bureau was informed by Downing Street that its accreditation to attend the press conference had been withdrawn for \u201clogistical reasons\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Trump was due to have lunch with the British prime minister, Keir Starmer, at the latter\u2019s country retreat of Chequers on Thursday before the joint press conference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThe ABC\u2019s London bureau is still accredited to attend Chequers, however, Downing Street media has said it no longer has a spot at the joint press conference due to logistical reasons,\u201d an ABC spokesperson told the Guardian.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Sign up: AU Breaking News email<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cWe have been given no indication this is connected to the questions put to President Trump by ABC Americas editor John Lyons earlier this week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Lyons, who is reporting for Four Corners, drew the ire of the president on Tuesday when he asked Trump how much wealthier he had become since returning to the Oval Office for his second term in January.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Trump accused the reporter of \u201churting Australia\u201d with the line of questioning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cIn my opinion, you are hurting Australia very much right now,\u201d Trump said. \u201cAnd they want to get along with me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cYou know, your leader is coming over to see me very soon. I\u2019m going to tell him about you. You set a very bad tone.
