The state-of-the-art Fujian is in the final stages of testing before it officially begins active service in China\u2019s navy.<\/em><\/p>\n Published On 12 Sep 2025<\/span>12 Sep 2025<\/span><\/p>\n Click here to share on social media<\/p>\n share2<\/p>\n China\u2019s newest aircraft carrier transited through the Taiwan Strait as part of a research and training exercise before its entry into service, according to the People\u2019s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN).<\/p>\n PLAN spokesperson Senior Captain Leng Guowei said on Friday that the Fujian was bound for the South China Sea, where it will undergo testing.<\/p>\n list of 4 items<\/span>end of list<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe cross-regional tests and training are a routine mission of the carrier\u2019s construction process and do not target any specific objects,\u201d Leng said, according to Chinese state media.<\/p>\n The 80,000-tonne Fujian has not been officially commissioned for service, but it will soon join the Liaoning and Shandong vessels as China\u2019s third and most advanced aircraft carrier.<\/p>\n Fu Qianshao, a Chinese military affairs expert, told China\u2019s State-run news outlet Global Times that the Fujian\u2019s research trip to the South China Sea is a sign the aircraft carrier is nearly complete.
