\n\tChloe Fineman is preparing to return for season 51 of Saturday Night Live<\/em>, though she admitted that she\u2019s \u201cstill processing\u201d many of her former co-stars not returning to the show amid a major cast shake\u2013up.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cPretty wild,\u201d Fineman told Extra TV<\/em> when asked about the cast changes. \u201cSome shocking stuff. A little heartbreak, sadness. I haven\u2019t fully processed anything, but I will say the show has such turnover.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tIt was previously announced that Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, Emil Wakim and John Higgins will not be returning for season 51, which premieres on Oct. 4.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI\u2019m going into my seventh year,\u201d Fineman continued. \u201cI\u2019ve like, done it. You always experience [turnover], but these people stay in your lives.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tFineman joined SNL<\/em> in 2019 as a featured player and she was promoted to repertory player in 2021. <\/p>\n \n\tIn addition to Fineman, SNL<\/em> stars Bowen Yang, Kenan Thompson, Ego Nwodim, Marcello Hernandez, Colin Jost, Michael Che, Andrew Dismukes, James Austin Johnson, Sarah Sherman, Ashley Padilla, Mikey Day and Jane Wickline are all confirmed to return for the new season. Meanwhile, Please Don\u2019t Destroy\u2019s Ben Marshall has been promoted to a feature player. The upcoming season will also include newcomers Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson and Veronika Slowikowska.<\/p>\n \n\tWhile speaking to Extra<\/em>, Fineman said that she\u2019s \u201cexcited for the new people\u201d to join the show. \u201cIt\u2019s so many people,\u201d she said, before joking, \u201cWhen I saw how young the new cast is, I immediately got a laser. I felt like I was in Death Becomes Her<\/em>. I was like, \u2018Oh my God.’\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tFineman isn\u2019t the only SNL<\/em> star to recently reflect on the cast shake-up. Yang opened up about Gardner leaving the show during the Wednesday episode of his Las Culturistas<\/em> podcast.<\/p>\n \n\tAfter he called Gardner \u201ca true anchor on that show,\u201d Yang said she was \u201cone of the greats\u201d and \u201cwill go down in history.\u201d <\/p>\n \n\tHe then shared that she was a trusted sketch writer on the variety show. \u201cIt\u2019s always a very, very vulnerable thing as a cast member to put only your name on it,\u201d Yang added. \u201cBut anytime you saw just \u2018Gardner,\u2019 you knew you were in good hands. She would take it upon herself to write pieces for other cast.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tOn a personal note, Yang credited Gardner for getting the cast through the COVID-19 pandemic.
