\n\tRiz Ahmed revealed he was hospitalized while filming the Star Wars<\/em> prequel Rogue One<\/em> after he experienced \u201cintense\u201d pain.<\/p>\n \n\tWhile appearing on the Wednesday episode of Penn Badgley\u2019s Podcrushed<\/em> podcast, Ahmed explained that he had to \u201cgrapple with the grief but also the acceptance\u201d he experienced following a \u201cvery intense\u201d health scare while filming the 2016 film.<\/p>\n \n\tAhmed shared that his \u201cbody just kind of, like, gave up on\u201d him and that he \u201cwas extremely exhausted\u201d when he was filming the movie. His health became so bad that he was hospitalized \u201cfor a brief period\u201d of time where he had to \u201creally try and regain my strength.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt was like building myself up from scratch,\u201d Ahmed said. \u201cIt was super scary and intense and quite prolonged actually.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe actor, who played Bodhi Rook in Rogue One<\/em>, said that \u201cit really wasn\u2019t clear\u201d why he felt ill. \u201cSomething very silent and very intense had happened to me and I wasn\u2019t getting better quickly,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n \n\tThe pain got so bad that Ahmed wondered if he would ever get his \u201clife back.\u201d He said that the uncertainty of his health led to a \u201cdeep kind of grief and fear and terror.\u201d However, the experience also helped him discover \u201ca kind of tremendous liberation and gratitude and acceptance.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI always think that when you\u2019re brought to your knees, you\u2019re halfway towards praying,\u201d Ahmed continued. He then added that \u201cwhen something is taken away from you, you become even more acutely aware of everything you have \u2014 and a bodily level, on a health level, you realize like, you don\u2019t control anything, man. You don\u2019t control a single thing. You don\u2019t even control your body.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tFollowing the health scare, Ahmed explained that the situation helped him realize that \u201ceverything is a gift.\u201d He continued, \u201cIn the most strange way, I never felt more grateful, more at peace, more content than when I felt like I was going to lose my whole life.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tNot only did the experience change is perspective on his personal life, but it also impacted him professionally.
