\n\tBobby Berk is addressing controversy that arose after he announced his new show with HGTV just a day after Netflix revealed Queer Eye<\/em> will end with season 10.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tA former member of the streamer\u2019s rebooted series, Berk served as the Fab Five\u2019s design expert through season one to eight, before he departed from the show ahead of its ninth installment. He will now star in the new series Junk or Jackpot?<\/em> via HGTV, though the announcement notably came on July 10, a day after Netflix announced Queer Eye<\/em> is set to conclude after its forthcoming 10th season.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI have to say, I swear on my mother\u2019s life, my show announcement date was set,\u201d he told People<\/em> when asked about the timing. \u201cNo, this was planned. Show announcements don\u2019t happen on a whim.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tOne of his former Queer Eye<\/em> co-star\u2019s even reached out in the wake of the reveal. \u201cEven Karamo [Brown] was like, \u2018Girl, the day after?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018No, no, no. I promise you it was already planned,\u2019\u201d Berk added.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI mean, [Netflix] could have easily given me a heads-up on when that was going to be announced,\u201d the interior designer said. \u201cI mean, I was on the show for [eight] seasons, but yeah, it\u2019s fine.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tFollowing his season eight exit, Jeremiah Brent joined Queer Eye<\/em> as the Fab Five\u2019s design expert. When speaking with The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>, Brent admitted that he didn\u2019t feel pressure to step into Berk nor OG Queer Eye<\/em> personality Thom Filicia\u2019s shoes, and rather \u201cfelt a responsibility to my castmates,\u201d of Brown, Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness and Tan France.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThey have been on the forefront of some of the most important social issues for the last seven years, and they have worked tirelessly to create something really special,\u201d he said of the reeboot.
