\n\tInterior designer Bobby Berk was one of the original five hosts of Netflix\u2019s reality show \u201cQueer Eye\u201d \u2014 aka the Fab Five \u2014 but left after the Season 8 in 2023 and is now set to host his own HGTV show. There was some awkward timing earlier this summer with Berk\u2019s HGTV announcement and the news that \u201cQueer Eye\u201d would be ending after the upcoming Season 10.<\/p>\n
\n\tNetflix announced on July 9 that \u201cQueer Eye\u201d will end after the 10th and final season, and the next day on July 10 HGTV revealed Berk would be hosting a new show, titled \u201cJunk or Jackpot?\u201d Berk addressed the backlash over his announcement with People and revealed that his former \u201cQueer Eye\u201d co-host Karamo Brown called him out over it.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cI have to say, I swear on my mother\u2019s life, my show announcement date was set. No, this was planned. Show announcements don\u2019t happen on a whim,\u201d Berk said. \u201cEven\u00a0Karamo was like, \u2018Girl, the day after?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018No, no, no. I promise you it was already planned.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tBerk said that he had no idea that Netflix would drop the \u201cQueer Eye\u201d news less than 24 hours before his own announcement.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cSome people were like, \u2018Couldn\u2019t you have waited?\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018Well, yes, but no,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean, [Netflix] could have easily given me a heads-up on when that was going to be announced. I mean, I was on the show for [eight] seasons, but yeah, it\u2019s fine.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tFor the first eight seasons of \u201cQueer Eye,\u201d Berk co-hosted with Brown,\u00a0Tan France,\u00a0Antoni Porowski and Jonathan Van Ness. In the wake of Berk\u2019s exit, he was replaced by HGTV interior design expert Jeremiah Brent, who will complete two seasons on the show before it ends.<\/p>\n
