\n\tMGM+ has renewed \u201cThe Institute\u201d for Season 2.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe second season will consist of eight episodes. News of the renewal comes just ahead of the show\u2019s Season 1 finale, which is scheduled for Aug. 24. <\/p>\n
\n\tThe series is based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Stephen King. Per MGM+, the show ranks as the network\u2019s best premiere ever. Season one stars Ben Barnes, Mary-Louise Parker, Joe Freeman, Simone Miller, Fionn Laird, Jason Diaz, and Jane Luk. <\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cSet free but hunted, new dangers await the escapees from the Institute and I can\u2019t wait,\u201d King said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe series follows the story of teen genius Luke Ellis (Freeman), who is kidnapped and awakens at The Institute, a facility full of children who all possess unusual abilities. In a nearby town, haunted former police officer Tim Jamieson (Barnes) has come looking to start a new life, but the peace and quiet won\u2019t last.<\/p>\n

\n\tKing serves as an executive producer on the series, with Jack Bender directing and executive producing. Benjamin Cavell is the writer and executive producer. MGM+ Studios produces. The series will premiere exclusively on MGM+ in the U.S., UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and Colombia.
