In a new interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music on Thursday, the rapper shared why it was important to keep things \u201cfun\u201d on the record.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt was being silly, just fun again. Because Chromakopia<\/em><\/em> was so like, for me\u2026 I\u2019m not saying it\u2019s the most mature, deep shit. Everyone has different lives,\u201d Tyler told Lowe. \u201cBut for me, whether it\u2019s me talking about my relationship with my hair and how that\u2019s affected me, or me almost being a father last year, or the relationship that I have with my father now, just so many things that I decided to dive deep into.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tHe added of his LP, Chromakopia<\/em>: \u201cAfter the weight of that got off, I just wanted to be silly again.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tTyler specifically pointed to parts of \u201cRah Tah Tah,\u201d \u201cNoid,\u201d and \u201cSticky,\u201d where he even heard his Los Angeles \u201creally popp[ing] through.\u201d There are other points where he quoted memes and silly internet videos in what he was writing.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI just want to get back to that, no deep album cuts, no slow emotional shit\u2026 I just want to be fun and say outrageous shit,\u201d Tyler said, adding that the \u201cmain goal\u201d of the album was to include some of the \u201cinside jokes that me and my friends laugh at, and just talk big fly shit.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tHe explained: \u201cAnd it was just fun doing that again, and not trying to be good, and precious, and make the most innovative music. Like, bro, over it. No intros, no outros, no bridges. Get to the fucking point. Get to the hook. Get to the verse. No beat switches, no fucking\u2026 I\u2019m over it, bro.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tTyler said parts of the album also reconnected him with his early love for dancing and artists who make danceable music \u2014 specifically Usher and his album, My Way<\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI want to wear leather and fucking gyrate. I used to think I was Usher when I was seven years old. That My Way <\/em>album was my shit, so I really know how to dance,\u201d Tyler explained. \u201cIf you look at the \u2018I Fucking Hate You\u2019 video, how I\u2019m moving and stuff, and then it\u2019s this random Loiter Squad clip. We in Seattle and I\u2019m like shirtless in my boxers, and I\u2019m doing these moves.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tHe added: \u201cAnd everyone\u2019s like, oh, that\u2019s funny, but when you really look at it, my whole career has been a lot of body movement and stuff like that.
