\n\tThough Chappell Roan just released a new single with \u201cThe Subway,\u201d the pop star is taking her time when it comes to making a second album.<\/p>\n
\n\tIn a new interview with Vogue from the set of \u201cThe Subway\u2019s\u201d music video, Roan revealed that her \u201csecond project doesn\u2019t exist yet.\u201d She released her debut album, \u201cConfessions of a Midwest Princess,\u201d in September 2023 and has since won the Grammy for best new artist and released three singles including \u201cThe Subway,\u201d \u201cThe Giver\u201d and \u201cGood Luck, Babe.\u201d <\/p>\n
\n\tHowever, \u201cthere is no album,\u201d she told Vogue. \u201cThere is no collection of songs.\u201d <\/p>\n
\n\tSo when can the world expect a new full-length project from Roan? \u201cIt took me five years to write the first one, and it\u2019s probably going to take at least five to write the next,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m not that type of writer that can pump it out.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tRoan went on to say that she doesn\u2019t think she makes \u201cgood music whenever I force myself to do anything.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cI see some comments sometimes, like, \u2018She\u2019s everywhere except that damn studio,’\u201d she added. \u201cEven if I was in the studio 12 hours a day, every single day, that does not mean that you would get an album any faster.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cThe Subway,\u201d which she first debuted live at Gov Ball last year, also \u201ctook an annoying amount of time to get just right,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cI just wasn\u2019t ready to put it out yet,\u201d Roan said of the song. \u201cIt was just too painful. I was just too angry and scared \u2014 just about my life \u2014 to put it out.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tBut now she\u2019s in a better place, which she said she owes in part to staying off social media. \u201cSocials harm the fuck out of me and my art. I\u2019m not doing that to myself anymore,\u201d she said, adding: \u201cI\u2019ve never written an album where I don\u2019t have Instagram or anything. The album process is purely, only mine. No one on TikTok gets to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n
