Late-night hosts discussed the ongoing Jeffrey Epstein scandal and the \u201cspite\u201d behind Donald Trump\u2019s impending tariffs.<\/p>\n
On Late Night, Seth Meyers spoke about the theories circulating over the death of Epstein, spurred on by the alleged missing minute from his jail cell video on the night of his death.<\/p>\n
He said that Trump is not in the right place to be handling it, as he\u2019s \u201cold\u201d and \u201ctired\u201d and just came back from a golfing vacation in Scotland.<\/p>\n
While there, he opened a private new golf course, which was on the official White House live stream. \u201cThey\u2019re not even pretending anymore, there\u2019s no separation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Trump is \u201ctired from all his golfing and self-enrichment\u201d and was recently seen trying not to fall asleep during a press briefing with Mehmet Oz. \u201cImagine if Joe Biden did this,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Meyers added that \u201che can\u2019t hear or understand reporters questions any more\u201d before playing footage of him getting confused over a recent question about Russia.<\/p>\n
Trump has been asked why he cut ties with Epstein and recently said he didn\u2019t want to waste people\u2019s time by going through the details. \u201cPlease my man, waste our time!\u201d Meyers said.<\/p>\n
He then \u201cdug the hole even deeper\u201d and \u201cmade it so much worse\u201d by rambling on about Epstein stealing workers from his spa, which he said was one of the best spas in the world. \u201cStop talking about the spa, is it your safe word?\u201d Meyers asked.<\/p>\n
But it\u2019s \u201cnot just Trump who keeps digging a hole for himself\u201d, there\u2019s also Dan Bongino, an Epstein-obsessed podcaster who is now the deputy director of the FBI.<\/p>\n
Despite him claiming that the full, unedited tape would be released, experts have said that while it might be \u201cunclear how much time is missing\u201d, this isn\u2019t the full tape after all.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis whole thing is a crisis of Trump\u2019s making,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On The Late Show, Stephen Colbert reminded viewers that it was the last day of July, which means that the \u201cbasket of deplorable tariffs are gonna kick in\u201d the day after.<\/p>\n
Trump had originally claimed he had made 200 deals ready for 1 August but \u201con the other hand, no he didn\u2019t\u201d, with just eight in place before the deadline.<\/p>\n
Colbert said that \u201chis demands are insane\u201d and many of the countries are included \u201cjust for spite\u201d.<\/p>\n
This week also saw him revive the presidential fitness test for American schoolchildren so they could be \u201cas fit as President Trump\u201d. It had originally been retired in 2012 for a switch to a focus on individual health rather than athletic feats.<\/p>\n
Trump signed the executive order flanked by athletes, including former NFL star Lawrence Taylor, who is a registered sex offender. Colbert called it \u201ca brilliant way to distance yourself from the whole Epstein scandal\u201d.<\/p>\n
This week also saw lawyer Alan Dershowitz, known for clients such as OJ Simpson, Harvey Weinstein and Trump, make further complaints about how he is shunned while in Martha\u2019s Vineyard.<\/p>\n
He had previously complained that his politics had made him a social pariah but now he is suing a vendor who refused to serve him pierogi. He was later seen speaking to a police officer about the incident.<\/p>\n
