\n\tDuring her Thursday night appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert<\/em>, Kamala Harris explained her decision to not run for California governor next year, and her plan to steer clear from politics for now.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cListen, I am a devout public servant. I have spent my entire career in service of the people. I thought a lot about running for governor. I love my state, I love California,\u201d the former vice president said. \u201cRecently I made the decision that I just, for now, I don\u2019t wanna go back in the system. I think it\u2019s broken.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tHarris continued that while she \u201calways believed that as fragile as our democracy is, our systems would be strong enough to defend our most fundamental principles, and I think right now that they\u2019re not as strong as they need to be.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tOn Wednesday, Harris announced that she would not be running for governor of California in 2026, though she did not address her plans for another presidential run, similar to her appearance on The Late Show<\/em>. On Thursday, she further revealed she is releasing a new memoir, entitled 107 Days<\/em>, that will track her 107-day presidential 2024 campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI don\u2019t want to go back into the system,\u201d she added. \u201cI want to travel the country, I want to listen to people, I want to talk with people and I don\u2019t want it to be transactional where I\u2019m asking for their vote.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tIn response to Harris, Colbert said, \u201cTo hear you say that it\u2019s broken, to hear you say that our systems aren\u2019t strong enough, is harrowing.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cBut it\u2019s also evident, isn\u2019t it?\u201d Harris answered. \u201cBut it doesn\u2019t mean we give up, that\u2019s not my point.
