\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve used that word for a long time and I use it specifically because it\u2019s a strong word,\u201d Curtis explained. \u201cI believe that we have wiped out a generation or two of natural human [appearance].\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tCurtis continued, \u201cThe concept that you can alter the way you look through\u00a0<\/strong>chemicals, surgical procedures, fillers \u2014 there\u2019s a disfigurement of generations of predominantly women who are altering their appearances. And it is aided and abetted by AI, because now the filter face is what people want. I\u2019m not filtered right now. The minute I lay a filter on and you see the before and after, it\u2019s hard not to go: \u2018Oh, well that looks better.\u2019 But what\u2019s better? Better is fake. And there are too many examples \u2013 I will not name them \u2013 but very recently we have had a big onslaught through media, many of those people.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tPlastic surgery runs rampant through Hollywood, but Curtis said \u201cI don\u2019t care\u201d about co-stars or famous friends going under the knife. She is not one to judge anybody for their choices.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter. I\u2019m not proselytizing to them,\u201d Curtis said. \u201cI would never say a word. I would never say to someone: what have you done? All I know is that it is a never-ending cycle. That, I know. Once you start, you can\u2019t stop. But it\u2019s not my job to give my opinion; it\u2019s none of my business.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tCurtis has largely avoided plastic surgery, although she did reveal to \u201c60 Minutes\u201d earlier this year that she got cosmetic surgery when she was 25 years old after a cinematographer refused to shoot her on a movie set because he didn\u2019t like her face. Curtis said she regrets her decision to this day. The movie was 1985\u2019s \u201cPerfect,\u201d directed by James Bridges and co-starring John Travolta.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI took it very seriously as an actor,\u201d Curtis said of the film, in which she played an aerobics instructor who meets a journalist (Travolta) during his investigation into fitness clubs.<\/p>\n \n\tThe film\u2019s cinematographer criticized the way she looked, with Curtis explaining: \u201cHe was like, \u2018I am not shooting her today because her eyes are baggy.\u2019 I was 25. For him to say that was very embarrassing. As soon as the movie finished, I ended up having some plastic surgery.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tWhen asked how the surgery went, Curtis answered: \u201cNot well. That\u2019s just not what you want to do when you\u2019re 25 or 26. I regretted immediately and have regretted it since. [I regret it] way so now because I\u2019ve become a really public advocate to women to say, \u2018You\u2019re gorgeous and perfect the way you are.\u2019 It was not a good thing for me to do\u2026 They give you pain killers. I became very enamored with the warm bath of an oipiod. Drank a little bit. I was very quiet and private about it.
