\n\tJulia Garner is opening up about her audition process for the long-delayed Madonna biopic.<\/p>\n
\n\tDuring a recent interview on the SmartLess<\/em>\u00a0podcast, the actress was asked by hosts Will Arnett,\u00a0Sean Hayes and\u00a0Jason Bateman\u00a0for a status update on where the shelved Universal biopic stands, to which she responded, \u201cYeah, I mean, that\u2019s supposed to still happen.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tAs for how she landed the role of the Queen of Pop, Garner, 31, said she\u2019s \u201csuch a fan of Madonna\u2019s\u201d and \u201cgrew up listening\u201d to the \u201cVogue\u201d singer.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt just came about,\u201d the Ozark<\/em> alum added of the audition. \u201cI knew they were doing a project, making a movie about it, and then I went out to audition. I kind of just wanted to see if I could do it, because I wasn\u2019t a trained dancer, and I had to learn how to dance and then dance in front of her and convince her that I can dance, basically, and sing. And sing with her!\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tGarner added that despite being nervous, The Fantastic Four: First Steps<\/em> actress kept telling herself, \u201c\u2018OK, what would Madonna do?\u2019 Which is convince you that she deserves, you know, to be in this room, and I owned it. I was kind of like, \u2018You can take it or leave it, but if you leave it, if I leave, then that\u2019s on you.’\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tIt\u2019s unclear exactly where the Madonna biopic stands, which she was set to direct, as it was shelved by Universal Pictures in 2023. However, following the legendary singer\u2019s massive Celebration Tour wrapping, Madonna shared on Instagram in 2024 that she was working on the script again.<\/p>\n \n\tIn a separate project, it was announced earlier this year that the \u201cMaterial Girl\u201d singer has also teamed up with producer and director\u00a0Shawn Levy\u00a0on a limited series project at\u00a0Netflix.
