\n\tFans who were excited to see Lola Tung\u00a0and\u00a0Nicholas Alexander Chavez in the new I Know What You Did Last Summer<\/em> film shouldn\u2019t get their hopes up.<\/p>\n \n\tDirector Jennifer Kaytin Robinson recently told People <\/em>magazine that the two actors\u2019 scenes were nicked from the final cut of the slasher sequel, despite the filmmaker initially planning to open the movie with them.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIn every movie, it\u2019s best laid plans, and then you edit the movie and you put it together and you go, \u2018I love this in a vacuum. This is a fantastic scene. But it doesn\u2019t fit in the movie,’\u201d Robinson explains of her decision to cut Tung and Chavez\u2019s scenes.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt was just one of those situations where it had nothing to do with Lola and Nicholas \u2014 they are both so fantastic. I really would love to work with them again. I loved working with them. They did a fabulous job,\u201d she added. \u201cBut in the larger tapestry of the film, it just didn\u2019t fit.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe Do Revenge<\/em> director said it always \u201csucks\u201d when you have to cut someone\u2019s scenes, \u201cbecause you don\u2019t want to do that to those actors. And it sucks when you love something as a scene but that scene just doesn\u2019t work in the final cut of the film.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tChavez, who rose to fame last year with his portrayal of Lyle Menendez in Ryan Murphy\u2019s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story<\/em>, previously told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> that he \u201chad a really great time\u201d shooting the reboot.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cAll of the horror fans are gonna come for me as soon as they see this, but I had no idea what\u00a0I Know What You Did Last Summer\u00a0<\/em>was before they came to me with the idea,\u201d he added about joining the project. \u201cI live under a rock \u2014 please don\u2019t give me a hard time about it \u2014 but we started talking about it and then I turned to my girlfriend who\u2019s like the biggest horror movie nerd of all time, and her whole face lights up, her jaw drops and she\u2019s like, \u2018We gotta go watch watch the movie right now.\u2019 So we go into the living room where our TV is and we throw it on and it was just so much fun.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tChavez continued, \u201cI grew up a\u00a0Scooby-Doo<\/em>\u00a0kid, so to see Freddie Prinze Jr. doing a different thing other than Fred, that was a lot of fun. So I got back on the phone and talked to the director [Robinson] and was listening to her pitch the direction that it should go in, and I was like, \u2018Yeah!’\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe I Know What You Did Last Summer<\/em> reboot, which hits theaters on Friday, sees Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt reprise their roles from the original 1997 pic.
