Facts are debatable. What is instantly recognisable is a legacy mindscape, however, and it\u2019s this that \u201cWood\u201d explores.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWood\u2019s\u201d plot set-up departs from a singular set up: \u201c\u2018Wood\u2019 embodies Caribbean melancholy, presenting a hypothetical scenario where the Colombian state \u2013 by way of reparation \u2013 deploys actors to perform as absent loved ones within families affected by the country\u2019s violence,\u201d the logline runs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tA 60-year-old actor who makes a living as a husband and father for several families, feels a growing attraction for one wife whose husband disappeared in Colombia\u2019s violent past. The actor comes to question his identity, the widow hesitates between sharing a fiction or remaining alone. Can historical wounds be cured by collective narrative? the directors ask.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWood\u201d stars Colombian actress Divina Blanco (\u201cOrgullo Blanco\u201d).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBarranquilla, on Colombia\u2019s Atlantic seaboard, is the nearest big city to Aracateca, where Gabriel Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez spent his childhood. It shows. \u201cRam\u00f3n Vinyes, the playwright, writer and inspirer of the wise Catalan bookseller character in \u2018One Hundred Years of Solitude\u2019 described Barranquilla as having an inexistent existence, only understood navigating avenues of dispersion and the labyrinths of memory,\u201d the directors note. \u201c\u2018What inhabits uninhabited places? What emotional residue survives? A place nourished by the tension of the real and imaginary, where surrealism co-exists with inevitable realism.\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201c\u2019Wood\u2019 is our love letter to Barranquilla, in memory of our grandparents. A tribute to our roots, our essence, and our culture. It is a story about absences: of people, of history, of certainties. That is why this fiction is not built on facts, but rather on traversing the labyrinths of memory.
