\n\tGunn took to Instagram Threads Sunday to revel in the open numbers for his superhero tentpole. \u201cSuperman,\u201d released July 11, had the third biggest domestic opening of the year, earning $122 million over the weekend. The film currently sits at a global tally of $217 million.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cI\u2019m incredibly grateful for your enthusiasm and kind words over the past few days,\u201d Gunn wrote. \u201cWe\u2019ve had a lot of \u2018Super\u2019 in \u2018Superman\u2019 over the years, and I\u2019m happy to have made a movie that focuses on the \u2018man\u2019 part of the equation \u2013 a kind person always looking out for those in need.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWarner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav shared a celebratory message of his own for the \u201cSuperman\u201d opening, touting the film as \u201cthe first step\u201d in \u201ca bold 10-year plan.\u201d<\/p>\n
