The production aims to uncover the female voices at the heart of the tale, with the story told through the perspective of Mina Harker as the sole survivor of the tragic events. The only survivor of the tragic events chronicled in the famous letters, Mina recounts her version of Dracula\u2019s journey from Transylvania to London. Alongside trusted allies, and in memory of her beloved friend Lucy, they scramble to piece together the truth of his monstrous desires.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe production will star Mei Mac (\u201cMy Neighbour Totoro\u201d) as Lucy, Jack Myers (\u201cSay Nothing,\u201d \u201cMasters of the Air\u201d) as Jonathan, and Umi Myers (\u201cDope Girls,\u201d \u201cThe Mirror and the Light\u201d) as Mina. Rounding out the cast are Phoebe Naughton (\u201cThe Comedy of Errors,\u201d \u201cThe Snow Queen\u201d) as Van Helsing\/Ensemble, Macy Seelochan (\u201cAs You Like It,\u201d \u201cShadow and Bone\u201d) as Jo\/Ensemble, and B Terry (\u201cCabaret\u201d) as Renfield\/Ensemble.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThere is a timeless obsession with Bram Stoker\u2019s \u2018Dracula\u2019 which has been so exciting to dig into so far and I can\u2019t wait to work with Emma and our incredible cast and team to bring it to the stage,\u201d said Malcolm. \u201cHorror has long been a genre I\u2019ve loved and to be able to explore this classic story within the context of the scary times we\u2019re living through has felt particularly important and exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMalcolm, who was commissioned by The Globe to write \u201cEmilia\u201d (which transferred to the West End in 2019 and won three Olivier awards), now runs theatre company Terrifying Women with Abi Zakarian, Sampira and Amanda Castro, producing horror plays written by women.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBaggott said: \u201cWe have formed a company of brilliant and resilient human beings that are all ready to take on Morgan Lloyd Malcom\u2019s fearsome adaptation of \u2018Dracula\u2019 and confront the monsters of our times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe creative team includes Grace Smart as set and costume designer, Joshie Harriette as lighting designer, Adam Cork as composer and sound designer, Chi-San Howard as movement director, John Bulleid and Gareth Kalyan as illusion designers, and Bethan Clark as fight and intimacy director.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI am so thrilled to be a part of this exciting new production of \u2018Dracula,&#8217;\u201d said Umi Myers. \u201cMorgan Lloyd Malcom has injected a new life into this classic tale, which will excite (and frighten) new audiences as well as those who already love the horror genre.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tRachel O\u2019Riordan, artistic director of the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, positioned the production as part of the theater\u2019s milestone year: \u201cI\u2019m delighted that this fresh adaptation of Bram Stoker\u2019s classic is premiering on the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre stage this September.
